The Department of Natural Resources Aviation Services team brings missions to life from the air, providing helicopter support for wildfire suppression, inland search and rescue, public safety, and natural resource management. With over 70 years of operational excellence, pilots are tactical operators delivering precision results under pressure in rugged terrain.

We’re hiring line pilots with highly skilled utility flying experience for mid-career upgrade in a full-time, year-round, stable, unionized position. Primary focus includes wildfire response, emergency response, Natural Resource external load support, remote bush operation, and intense unprepared landing areas. Fly high-performance aircraft like New H-125’s for the public good in well-maintained fleet.

Operate in challenging VFR environments across forests, wetlands, and coastal terrain, slinging gear into tight LZs and dropping buckets on active wildfires. Respond to missing persons, rescue injured citizens from remote areas, and assist law enforcement. Collaborate with engineers, ground support, public safety officers, and conservation teams.

Requirements

  • Valid Transport Canada CPL (H)
  • 2,000+ hours PIC on helicopters
  • Skilled bush or utility pilot experience
  • External load specialist
  • Wildfire suppression veteran
  • Remote bush operation and unprepared landing areas experience
  • Composure to operate with limited support in demanding environments

Responsibilities

  • Fly New H-125 helicopters on mission-critical provincial operations including wildfire suppression, longline operations, remote landings, public safety, and search and rescue
  • Operate in challenging VFR environments across forests, wetlands, and coastal terrain
  • Sling gear into tight LZs, drop buckets on active wildfires, and assist ground crews during high-tempo missions
  • Respond to missing or lost persons requests, rescue injured citizens from remote areas, and assist local law enforcement
  • Collaborate with engineers, ground support, public safety officers, and conservation teams
  • Perform pre/post-flight planning, documentation, and compliance in accordance with CARs
