Amentum is currently accepting applications for Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Selected applicants will provide instruction in the UH-72, with no military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification required. Amentum instructors teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive training designed to prepare them for roles as military aviators. Safety remains paramount in every aspect of Rotary Wing Flight Training culture. Instructors conduct flight instruction across more than 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System.
Since 1989, Amentum has trained and educated more than 1200 students per year with a 400+ employee workforce. Providing classroom academic instruction and hands-on flight training to nearly 500 students per day sets our instructors apart. Over 30 years, we have instilled nearly 30,000 pilots with essential knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Instructors contribute to this legacy while operating in today's complex aviation environment. The role offers a structured 12-month Employee Agreement subject to Government approval.
Requirements
- Possess FAA commercial pilot certificate and flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings, or graduate of DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course
- Total flight time of 1500 hours as pilot-in-command or second-in-command
- 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time
- Experience instructing students in instrument flight training
- 75 hours of night flying
- 500 hours of instructor time
- Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- For Basic Warfighter Skills: Night Vision Goggle qualified with 200 hours NVG time
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in the UH-72 helicopter
- Teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive training
- Conduct flight instruction encompassing more than 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System
- Prepare students for future roles as military aviators
- Instruct students in instrument flight training
- Deliver hands-on flight training and classroom academic instruction
- Maintain safety as paramount in all Rotary Wing Flight Training activities
